Companies House has updated its guidance titled ‘Reporting scams pretending to be from Companies House.’ The guidance aims to help individuals verify whether communications claiming to be from Companies House are legitimate or fraudulent.
It includes a list of scam emails, letters, and phone calls designed to trick people into sharing confidential or personal information.
The latest update highlights a new scam letter from 'Company Registration' requesting payment. Companies House advises not to visit any websites or QR code links provided and to avoid making payments to the details listed.
The guidance also covers various fraud types, including suspicious job vacancies, pension liberation scams, and fake company register payment requests. Additionally, it provides information for those wishing to make charitable donations to support those affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Charity Commission and Fundraising Regulator offer advice on ensuring donations go to the intended causes.
